How does it work?
We harness your internet connection to make & receive phone calls. Your computer does not need to be on to make & receive calls (just your modem). To do this you'll need an ATA - Analogue Telephone Adaptor - which connects to your Modem. Most ATA's also offer fallback to your regular phone line in case of no power or internet disruption.
Because the HD Internet Phone plans use your internet connection, you do need to keep that. We recommend plans Blue, Red, Black or Silver as being suitable. Your internet service (unless you are on a Silver plan) does also need to have a working phone connection, & this is the reason why we introduced the VoIP+ Special landline plan.
We are currently issuing telephone numbers (VoIP numbers or DIDs) in over 40 Call Zones - see them here

3-way calling* - 3-Way Calling lets you dial a third person while putting your original caller on hold.
Do Not Disturb - Diverts all your incoming calls straight to your voicemail
Anonymous call block* - With Anonymous Call Block, your phone won't even ring if the caller hides their Caller ID. The call will be sent to voicemail if enabled; otherwise the call will be dropped.
Follow me - Allows call forwarding of up to 5 different numbers. Numbers can be set up to ring in a simultaneously order.
Voice mail - Voicemail is where all unanswered calls are forwarded which allows the callers to leave a voice message.

What Hardware do I need?
Any VoIP suitable hardware will be fine. We recommend the Netcomm V210P ATA or, if you would prefer an All-in-One device, the NB9MAXX & NB9MAXXN are good choices. Make sure your hardware can use the features above to get the full benefit from your service.

I already have hardware from Engin, can I use it?
I'd love to say yes, but we have experienced far to many problems with simple re-configuring of Engin supplied hardware
This is not a reflection of any odd requirements of our network, this is simply because Engin chose to lock hardware supplied by themselves to their network
We can make it work, but frankly it is not worth the pain, & even then some features will still be inaccessible
Your better option is to start afresh.
Our equipment uses standard settings - nothing is locked - you can use it on any network

How hard is it to set up & use?
It's just not hard at all! If you purchase your hardware from us, we will set it up for you, test it & then send it on. All you have to do is connect a few cables & you are away.

We may assess abnormal usage based on comparisons to the usage patterns and levels of our other customers. *Unlimited calling and other services for all residential plans are based on normal residential use by single-family household members. Small Business Plus plan is intended solely for normal commercial use by small businesses and home offices.
Combinations of factors are used to determine excessive use, including but not limited to: the number of unique numbers called, international calls forwarded, minutes used and other factors.
Unreasonable use of the service is considered to be;
i) using a device that re routes calls to/from the HD Internet Phone service to another VoIP network;
ii) using the service in bridging of conference calls
iii) using the HD Internet Phone for any other purpose than the primary function of person-to-person voice communication.
iv)Australis reserves the right to change this Policy at any time.
